Mid luxury price gap
There is a price band where womenswear stops selling.
On premium platforms in Germany, top-selling rates do not rise in a straight line with price. Accessible pieces sell well. True luxury sells well. The band between roughly 500 and 1,000 dollars sells the worst of all.
That middle band also carries the heaviest discount load. Items priced there are the most likely to end up marked down.
Dresses show the pattern most clearly. The strongest sell-through sits in the mid-hundreds. The 500 to 1,000 range trails every other tier.
Shoppers will stretch for a clear luxury piece. They will also buy something accessible. The price in between draws neither group.
Brands pricing into that band compete for the smallest pool of buyers.
